He provides tax consulting and compliance services to manufacturing, distribution, personal service corporations, and real estate management companies. His experience extends to personal tax consulting and compliance for business owners, family members, and other high net worth individuals. These responsibilities typically include coordinating corporate and individual financial and tax planning strategies, while taking into consideration income, estate, and gift tax issues. Mr. Rupert is in charge of the firm's international tax practice, handling US tax planning, consulting, and research for entities based abroad operating in the US. Additionally, he has assisted various clients with tax structures including statutory mergers and acquisitions as well as tax-free spin-offs. He also has experience with employee benefit plans including various qualified retirement plans as well as Section 125 plans and health and welfare plans. In early 2002, Mr. Rupert was appointed to a two-year term on the Lake County Tax Incentive Review Committee. The three-person board reviews all of the tax abatement and incentive programs in Lake County. The board reviews presentations from company representatives and city and school officials to determine if a tax incentive program should be granted. Mr. Rupert has worked as a part-time faculty member at David M. Myers College and Lake Erie College, where he taught courses on Advanced Tax Accounting and Intermediate Accounting.
